Brenda Strong nasce a Brightwood, nell'Oregon, nel 25 Marzo del 1960.
La donna trascorre tutta la sua adolescenza nella sua città natale fino al 1978, al momento del diploma alla Sandy High School. Dopo qualche tempo si trasferisce nella località dell'Arizona per conseguire la laurea in musical alla Arizona State University.
Il suo debutto nel piccolo schermo avviene nel 1985 con alcuni ruoli "MacGyver", "Matlock", "Murphy Brown", "St. Elsewhere", "Cheers", "Blossom" ed "Herman's Head".
In seguito al suo matrimonio con Tom Henri, partecipa a numerose serie televisive come, per citarne solo alcune, "Settimo Cielo", CSI, Nip/Tuck e Gilmore Girls.
Ora svolge il ruolo di Mary Alice Young, nonchè una delle portagoniste, nel telefilm "Desperate Housewives".
