Daniel Dae Kim nasce a Pusan, in Corea del Sud, il 4 Agosto del 1968.
L'uomo ha iniziato i suoi studi all'Haverford College, per poi iscriversi alla New York University conseguendo la laurea in arti drammatiche.
Ha cominciato la sua carriera di recitazione in teatro con opere classiche del tipo "Romeo e Giulietta".
In seguito ad avere ottenuto una certa esperienza, Kim ha cominciato a recitare nel piccolo schermo per alcuni telefilm (ben venti in soli due anni) come: Beverly Hills 90210, CSI, 24 e Law & Order.
Tutte queste apparizioni incominciarono a dare i loro frutti acquisendo sempre più popolarità e accentrando sempre più attenzione.
Successivamente Daniel ha cominciato a lavorare anche per il grande schermo e in film del calibro di "Hulk" e "Spiderman 2".
Il suo grande picco di celebrità arriva solo con il telefilm Lost, nei panni del premuroso marito di Sun, che lo rende veramente celebre in buona parte del globo.
