Elizabeth Perkins nasce il 18 novembre 1960 a Queens, New York. Debutta nel 1986 in "About Last Night" con Demi Moore. E' dopo "Big" di Ron Howard con Tom Hanks che la sua carriera è in ascesa. Nel 1994 recita la parte di Wilma nel remake televisivo dei "Flinstones" con John Goodman. E nello stesso anno recita in "Miracolo sulla 34° strada" e in "Moonlight e Valentino" accanto a Whoopy Goldberg.

Seguono molti telefilm tra cui "Fashion Victim" con Patrick Dempsey e Reese Whiterspoon. Nel 2003 dà voce a Coral nel cartone "Alla ricerca di Nemo". Dopo la serie "The King of the Hill", Elizabeth recita anche con Naomi Watts in "The Ring 2".
E' sposata dal giugno 2000 con Julio Macat. Ha avuto un figlio dall'ex marito Terry Kinney. E' alta 1.73.
